I decided to post on this blog in order to share ideas and resources to show that teaching Science through English is possible, even better if combined with Technology. During my last 3 years working as a Teacher Advisor I have seen that many teachers think of bilingual and CLIL as teaching their subject in English. Nevertheless, bilingual only works well when we use English as a device to make lessons more challenging for our students, when we teach through English, which is especifically what CLIL means. This is what I tried during my past years working as a CLIL teacher and, believe me, if CLIL is well done, it works!!!!
As nowdays there is lot of controversy about how bilingualism affects the amount that students learn, as a CLIL teacher, I will adapt the contents I am teaching through English to the official curriculum and I will assess my students according to it, too. By doing so, I want to demostrate that by using CLIL it is perfectly affordable to cover the whole curriculum and I want to prove that students pass, not beacause of my decision, but because they have achieved all Assessment Standars acoording to the law.
What can you find in this blog?
Here, you will find the materials I will be preparing for my lessons of 1st ESO (year 7) along the academic year 2020-21 together with explanations of how I make sure I keep in line with the curriculum and I assess my students learning according to it.
